Mr. Laughlin is a practicing trial attorney with more than 25 years experience. He has focused his practice on Tort Claims Act cases, general liability defense, construction litigation, commercial litigation, Civil Rights defense, sexual harassment / hostile work environment defense, complex contract litigation, professional malpractice, products liability, insurance coverage disputes and many other types of cases, in both State and Federal Courts.

In addition to his vast background handling law suits, David has more than ten years experience representing public entities. These include acting as Special Counsel for the County of Monmouth, serving as Borough Counsel for the Borough of Allenhurst and serving as counsel for the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority.

Prior to forming Birdsall & Laughlin, LLC, David worked at Stout & O’Hagan for almost a decade. He started his legal career in 1986 with Carton, Witt, Arvanitis & Bariscillo serving the defense needs of major insurers throughout New Jersey

David graduated from Montclair State University in 1982 with a B.A. in Economics. After a year away from school during which he became a licensed insurance agent in the State of New Jersey, he returned to school and earned his Juris Doctorate from Delaware Law School in 1986.

David is a life long resident of Monmouth County New Jersey who does not hesitate to indicate his love for “The Shore.”
